Comments by Martine Nouet at a lunch of the Gastronomic Press on May 17, 2003 :- Colour : copper with old gold reflections- Nose : aromas of cider apples, citrus fruits (grapefruit), dried herbs, wild mint. The wood present remains discreetly in the background, with notes of cinnamon and liquorice. Paul Pacult - SPIRIT JOURNAL - June 2005 (USA) : “The 110 best distilled Spirits currently available in 2005” : Coeur de Lion 1963 N° 2 !!! “A bona fide masterpiece of apple mash distilling that will live long in my memory as one of the greatest spirits/brandy experiences I’ve ever had”. Round, soft nose with almonds and brewers, yeast aromas. The mouth is slightly tannic with a hint of bitterness.
